The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) regulates solicitors and law firms, such as Howard & Partners. It decides who may practise as a solicitor and sets the standards they must keep.
History
The SRA was set up in 2007, taking over regulation from the Law Society, which continues to represent solicitors.
Role
In UKOGB a member must pass the SRA's test before they can practise as a solicitor and act for clients, including in claims and criminal cases in the courts. Solicitors who pass get the Solicitor role in the Discord server. The SRA can investigate complaints about solicitors and firms and discipline those who break its rules.
Positions
In UKOGB the Solicitors Regulation Authority is run by members who hold its posts on the website. Its head is the Chief Executive of the SRA, who can edit the organisation's page, appoint people to its other roles and speak for it in public. The current holders are shown in the box on this page and on the organisation's page on the website, and each post brings its own Discord roles and website permissions.
