The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) looks after the United Kingdom's relations with other countries. It runs the embassies and high commissions abroad, supports British people overseas, and manages the country's aid programme. It is led by the Foreign Secretary.
History
The Foreign Office was created in 1782 alongside the Home Office. It joined with the Commonwealth Office in 1968, and in 2020 merged with the Department for International Development to take its present form and name.
Role
The FCDO leads the country's diplomacy, negotiates treaties, works with allies through international organisations, and decides how overseas aid is spent. It also helps British citizens who get into trouble abroad and issues guidance on travel to other countries.
Positions
In UKOGB the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is run by members who hold its posts on the website. Its head is the Foreign Secretary, who can edit the organisation's page, appoint people to its other roles and speak for it in public. The current holders are shown in the box on this page and on the organisation's page on the website, and each post brings its own Discord roles and website permissions.
