Ofcom is the regulator for broadcasting, news and communications. In UKOGB it is run by the server's administrators, and it oversees the news organisations that report on the community: BBC News, ITV News and Channel 4 News.
History
Ofcom was created in 2003, bringing together five earlier regulators for television, radio and telecommunications into one body.
Role
Ofcom decides which members may work as journalists for each news organisation, makes sure news is accurate and impartial, and handles complaints about coverage. It can warn or sanction an outlet that breaks its rules. On the website Ofcom manages the news section, and it publishes its notices in its own channel.
Positions
In UKOGB Ofcom is run by members who hold its posts on the website. Its head is the Chief Executive of Ofcom, who can edit the organisation's page, appoint people to its other roles and speak for it in public. The current holders are shown in the box on this page and on the organisation's page on the website, and each post brings its own Discord roles and website permissions.
